Canon Gear for
Events & Video Production

Weddings, corporate events, and video production all ask for the same core thing: a camera that won't miss the moment, in changing light, for hours at a stretch. Here's how we'd set you up, whether you're shooting stills, video, or both on the same day.

Events & Video

For Event & Wedding Photography

Events move fast and light changes constantly — from bright outdoor ceremonies to dim reception halls. You need a body with strong high-ISO performance and a lens that can go from a wide group shot to a tight candid without a lens change.

EOS R6 Mark III + RF 24-105mm F2.8L Z

The one-camera, one-lens event solution

  • Canon EOS R6 Mark III — bridges high resolution (32.5MP) with genuine speed (up to 40fps), so you don't have to choose between detail and not missing the moment.
  • RF 24-105mm F2.8L IS USM Z — combines useful reach with a constant f/2.8 aperture, letting you go from a full room shot to a tight portrait without swapping lenses mid-event.

Best for: wedding and event photographers who want to carry one body and one lens through an entire day.

EOS R6 Mark II + RF 70-200mm F2.8L

Budget-friendly, still genuinely capable

  • Canon EOS R6 Mark II — a proven 24MP full-frame workhorse with excellent high-ISO performance for dimly lit venues, at a more accessible price than the Mark III.
  • RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM — the classic event and portrait telephoto, for compressed, flattering shots from a comfortable distance during ceremonies.

Best for: photographers building an event kit on a tighter budget without giving up real capability.

For Video & Cinema Production

Video asks for different things than stills: sustained recording without overheating, and lenses built for smooth, silent focus pulls rather than snap-focus autofocus.

EOS R6V + RF 20-50mm F4L PZ

Video-first, built to run long

  • Canon EOS R6V — a built-in cooling fan for long recording sessions and 7K RAW capture, in a streamlined design built specifically to be a video camera first.
  • RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ — a power-zoom lens designed for smooth, motorised zooms during a take, not the snap-focus a stills lens is built for.

Best for: solo creators, YouTube/social video, and event videographers whose main output is video rather than stills.

A Few Honest Notes

Can one photographer really cover both stills and video at an event?
It's demanding but doable with the right kit — many event shooters carry an R6-series body for stills and either add a second body (like the R6V) for video, or lean on the R5 C's hybrid capability to do both from one camera. Tell us how your day usually runs and we'll suggest a realistic setup.
The R5 C is in stock now — no wait needed. The XF605 is a lower-volume, higher-specification tool most customers order for a specific production, so we bring it in on request — we keep strong relationships with Canon to get it to you quickly, often at very attractive pricing. WhatsApp us to check current lead time on the XF605.

Tell us about your event or production and we'll recommend the right setup.
